(Please be sure to read “How to Sign Up for a Workshop” at the end of this page.)

Introduction to Mosaic, the Direct Method, Three dates to choose from !!  Jan. 28 & 29, 10am-4pm (or) Feb.25 & 26, 10am-4pm (or) March 24 & 25, 10am-4pm  (BYO Lunch 12-1)  $125 fee includes materials.

In this two-day fun and informative workshop you’ll learn the basics of the ancient art of mosaic using modern recycled materials such as stained glass and china shards.  You’ll be creating a flat framed panel, a picture or mirror frame.  On day one we’ll discuss design elements, how to prepare your surface, cutting and breaking of tesserae and choices of adhesives or cements.  Then you’ll attach your pieces to the frame.  On day two, you’ll learn grouting methods and how to finish and polish your mosaic. (Day two may be a bit shorter depending on how speedy you are!)  If you have broken china, bits of glass or any other treasures you might want to include, feel free to bring them for your project.  Come prepared to have a great time!  Class size 8 people.

Mosaics to Go!  Jan.18, 6:30pm-9pm, $40 fee includes all materials.

Using recycled stained glass and china shards along with some “found objects,” I’ll show you how to create a 9″x11″ ready-to-hang mosaic panel at this one day workshop.  You’ll be surprised at how easy this is and what beautiful results you’ll get.  Bring any small bits of glass, including beach glass or shells, china shards, costume jewelry, buttons, etc. you might want to include.

Mosaic Hearts, Feb.8, 6:30pm-9pm, $40 fee includes all materials.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, create this special mosaic message for your valentine in the form of a 2-D heart to hang on your wall (or wherever you feel inspired to display it!)  We’ll be working with a fantastic new adhesive technology that allows the maker to spend more time on the creative process and less on construction.  We’ll be working with stained glass, beads, buttons, shells, “what-have-you” to create these one of a kind hearts.  At the end of our workshop you’ll have a beautiful heart to give to the one you love!

Mosaic on Glass, March 7, $40 fee includes all materials

Have you ever looked at stained glass pieces and wished you could make “something like that”, but felt the art form was too involved/expensive/too much of a commitment?  Here is your opportunity to create a stained glass effect using the simplest of materials.  In this one-day workshop, we’ll create a hanging stained glass panel in only two and a half hours.  I’ll show you how, and you’ll be thrilled with your beautiful results!

3-D Lightweight Armature building for Mosaic Garden Sculpture workshops this spring- look for details in early March!

    Dear Lizz,
I’m very interested in your 3-D concrete sculpture for mosaic class that I saw advertised in the carving studio in Rutland brochure. Unfortunately I will not be here during that period of time. Will you be giving the course in another location at another time? I have a HUGE box of glazed ceramic stuff ready for mosaic and have been wanting to use it on large outdoor sculpture. Please let me know…
    All the best. Sandra Lance
